About us
The tradition of paper manufacturing in Slovakia takes us 400 years back to the history. It is evitable, that convenient production conditions, sufficiency of raw materials as well as final product enquiries enabled a number of paper mills in different parts of Slovakia to be established.
One of the paper mills was also opened in Ružomberok (in Jazierce area) before 1720 and it was in operation process until the second half of the 19 th century.
New machinery equipped paper, pulp and groundwood mills sprang up at the turn of the 19 th century and at the beginning of the 20 th century. The former ones are growing and improving fast.
In 1880 a group of Ružomberok´s citizens established a groundwood and board mill named after Jakub Klein. Later, they started producing paper, too.
Paper bag manufacturing in paper mill called Supra is dating back to the beginning of the 20 th century. In 2000 the paper machines were moved to reconstructed premises of Solo plant. In 2002 Solo split from NSCP and a 100 % subsidiary called Obaly Solo was established. Later on, Harmanec Kuvert company bought out the division of paper bags manufacturing and on 1 September, 2005 Harmanec-Bags, Ltd. was established.
